  3. HX designators are special instructions regarding the sending and 
  4. delivery of messages through the NTS (National Traffic System).  These 
  5. designators appear in the header of the message.
  6.

  20. NR6N has included HXC and HXG designations in the message header, 
  21. HXC for "Report date and time of delivery (TOD) to originating station", 
  22. and HXG for "Delivery by mail or landline toll call not required. 
  23. If toll or other expense involved, cancel message and service originating 
  24. station".

  26. A complete list of HX message designators follows:
  27.  
  28. HXA -- (followed by number.)  Collect landline delivery authorized by 
  29. addressee within....miles. (If no number, authorization is unlimited.) 
  30. For example, HXA50 would authorize toll landline call within 50 miles 
  31. of message destination.
  32.  
  33. HXB -- (followed by number.)   Cancel message if not delivered within....hours 
  34. of filing time; service originating station.)  Example: HXB48 would 
  35. prescribe a cancellation of message after 48 hours of filing time.
  36.  
  37. HXC -- Report date and time of delivery (TOD) to orginating station.
  38.  
  39. HXD -- Report to originating station the identity of station from which 
  40. received, plus date and time.  Report identity of station which relayed, 
  41. plus date and time, or if delivered report date, time and method of 
  42. delivery.

  44. HXE -- Delivering station get reply from addressee, originate message 
  45. back.
  46.  
  47. HXF -- (followed by number.) hold delivery until....(date).
  48.  
  49. HXG -- delivery by mail or landline toll call not required.  if toll 
  50. or other expense involved, cancel message and service originating 
  51. station.

  53. if more than one HX prosign is used, they can be combined if no 
  54. numbers are to be inserted.  in the nr6n example, it may be sent as 
  55. "NR 43R HXCG NR6N 10 Citrus Heights CA Dec 16" rather than separating 
  56. them as HXC HXG.

  58. When a number is involved with the prosign, the HX designators should 
  59. be separated as in "NR 35R HXB72 HXG K6RAU 15 Merced CA Dec 22".
